Resumo

A dualidade é uma característica do conhecimento e da Geografia Ocidental, com raízes morais e filosóficas. A Teoria da Complexidade traz novas perspectivas para a compreensão dos dualismos, questionando hegemonias e unilateralidades. Foram usadas as referências metodológicas (nomotético-idiográficas), escalares (global-local), temáticas (geografia físico-humana) e epistemológicas (espaço-lugar). As regras e a universalidade dos processos espaciais não são vistos como mais importantes que a singularidade e as relações internas dos lugares que dão origem a organizações e emergências. As interações locais não-lineares podem assumir grandes proporções e afetar a globalidade, com classificações e descrições hierárquicas cada vez mais flexíveis. O discernimento prévio entre natureza e sociedade torna-se secundário e inadequado devido ao arquétipo comum dos sistemas complexos. As perspectivas são de diálogos inter e intradisciplinares entre as abordagens, teorias e métodos aplicados.

Biografia do Autor

Rodrigo Dutra Gomes, Universidade Federal de Pernambuco

possui graduação em Geografia, Licenciatura e bacharelado pela Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (2002), é Mestre (2005) e Doutor (2010) em Geografia pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas -UNICAMP. Atualmente desenvolve pesquisa de Pós-doutorado sobre a construção da relação entre Geografia e Teoria da Complexidade. Tem experiência na área de Geografia, com ênfase em Epistemologia em Geografia, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: abordagem sistêmica complexa, Complexidade, epistemologia em Geografia, planejamento e diagnóstico ambiental, teoria e dinâmica da paisagem.
