A CIDADE INDUSTRIAL DE CONTAGEM: DA PRODUÇÃO DA METRÓPOLE VIA INDUSTRIALIZAÇÃO À REORDENAÇÃO RECENTE DAS ANTIGAS ÁREAS INDUSTRIAIS.
Abstract
O esforço desse trabalho orienta-se pela compreensão dos diferentes ciclos de metropolização que cercam o município de Contagem tomando-se como ponto de partida três momentos distintos, a saber: primeiramente, a metropolização via industrialização, passando pela fragmentação espacial e a reordenação recente do espaço. Nosso foco de análise tem como ponto privilegiado a Cidade Industrial Coronel Juventino Dias. Busca-se compreender o arcabouço político-econômico que estava na base desse contexto. O ponto de partida é a constituição da Cidade Industrial e a miríade de processos que se vinculam à sua implantação. A partir dos anos 2000 as áreas industriais vêm sofrendo um processo de esvaziamento ou sendo substituídas por outras formas de ocupação.
