Abstract

The Supply Centers are units managed by the State, Municipalities or by mixed capital (public and private), intended for the sale of horticultural products, fish, handicrafts, among others, at the wholesale and retail level. The diversity of activities developed in these establishments characterizes a large daily volume in the generation of waste. In this context, this article proposes to analyze the management of solid waste at the Supply Center in Feira de Santana, Bahia, highlighting stages of conditioning, collection / transport and socio-environmental impacts. The methodological procedures covered the bibliographic and documentary survey, field visits, analysis and data integrated discussion. There is a monthly average of 200 to 320 t / month of collected waste, with no value for commercialization, but with potential for reuse. The results point to a deficiency in the local cleaning and management system and non-compliance with current legislation Hence, the urgency of actions and measures, that dialogue with the National Solid Waste Policy, is recognized and to be articulated to the risks arising from anthropic activities in the urban space

Mestre e Doutoranda em Geografia pela Universidade Federal de Sergipe - UFS. Especialista em Geografia e Meio Ambiente pela Universidade Cândido Mendes. Licenciada e Bacharel em Geografia pela Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana (UEFS). Realiza pesquisa na linha de dinâmica ambiental. Principais interesses de pesquisa são: Análise Socioambiental, Resíduos Sólidos, Riscos Socioambientais, Ensino de Geografia e Recursos Hídricos.

Josefa Eliane Santana de Siqueira Pinto, Doutora em Geografia, Professora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Geografia da Universidade Federal de Sergipe

Professora Doutora, pesquisadora e orientadora da Pós-Graduação em Geografia da UFS.Graduada em Licenciatura Em Geografia pela Universidade Federal de Sergipe (1978), possui graduação em Bacharelado Em Geografia pela Universidade Federal de Sergipe (1980), mestrado em Geografia (Geografia Física) pela Universidade de São Paulo (1986) e doutorado em Geografia pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1997). Coordenou o Doutorado e o Mestrado da Universidade Federal de Sergipe (NPGEO). É professor Associado da Universidade Federal de Sergipe, Integra comissão científica dos periódicos Canindé (MAX/UFS) , - Caderno do Estudante (UFS) e - Geonordeste (UFS) . Assessor Ad Hoc da FACEPE (Fundação de Amparo à Ciência e Tecnologia do Estado de Pernambuco. Integra a Diretoria da ABClima e compõe a comissão científica da RBClima. Orientou Iniciação Científica, Trabalho de conclusão e curso (graduação), Mestrado e Doutorado na área de Geociências, com ênfase em Climatologia Geográfica, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Sergipe, clima, semiárido,recursos hídricos, dinâmica ambiental, bacia hidrográfica, meio ambiente, análise socioambiental, clima socioambiental urbano, teorias e técnicas em dinâmica ambiental, geografia e agricultura. Professora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Geografia da UFS.

Michelle Pereira da Costa da Silva, Mestre em Geografia, Doutoranda no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Geografia da Universidade Federal de Sergipe

Mestre e Doutoranda em Geografia pela Universidade Federal de Sergipe (UFS), licenciada em Geografia pela Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana (UEFS). Atuou como Tutora Presencial da Universidade Aberta do Brasil na Universidade Estadual da Bahia (UNEB). Realiza pesquisa na linha de pesquisa dinâmica ambiental, com ênfase nas questões socioambientais nos seguintes temas: bacias hidrográficas, recursos hídricos, clima urbano, derivações antropogênicas e Sistemas de Informação Geográfica.
