Climate justice in the semi-arid region and the lack of discussions in the brazilian academic scope

The concept of climate justice, derived from environmental justice, highlights how climate change impacts different social groups unequally, affecting vulnerable populations more intensely. This article objetives to contextualize the theme of climate change and climate justice and explore studies on climate justice in the context of the Brazilian Northeastern semi-arid region, which is one of the regions most vulnerable to current climate change. Through a bibliometric analysis in the Scielo Brazil and Web of Science databases, few publications on the topic were identified, highlighting a gap in academic knowledge. Although Brazil has advanced environmental legislation, the implementation of adaptive public policies, especially in the semi-arid region, is insufficient. The study concludes that it is urgent to deepen the debate on climate justice in Brazil, with a focus on promoting strategies that protect the most vulnerable communities, ensuring their fundamental rights in the face of the climate crisis.
