The teaching of geography and the analysis of the content bioma caatinga in the 7th grade textbooks

The teaching of Geography must contextualize what is present in the textbook with the student's reality, seeking strategies for valuing this space. Thus, the present research is based on the following problems: how the contents referring to the Caatinga biome are approached in the 7th?grade Geography textbooks and whether these contents arouse the interest and appreciation of the Biome?Therefore, this research aims to analyze how the contents related to the Caatinga biome are addressed in the 7th grade Geography textbooks. The research is characterized as qualitative, with bibliographic and documentary procedures. Initially, bibliographic researchwas carried out regarding the Teaching of Geography and the Caatinga Biome and later, the collection of data on the Caatinga biome content present in nine collections by different authors and publishers. From this analysis, it was found that although the Caatinga is the only exclusively Brazilian biome, it is still little explored in textbooks, a fact observed in the approaches that are found in a few pages or paragraphs. In this case, there is a need for support teaching materials (regional/local) that can complement the textbook and at the same time promote its knowledge and appreciation
