Global food chains, actor networks and qualities in fruit production for export: Links between Brazil and Germany
Keywords:
globalization, food chain, qualities, global regions, Brazil, GermanyAbstract
This article aims to understand processes that expose how global food chains are manifested in particular historical socio-economic contexts. Different actors, including agro industrial and logistics companies, migrant workers and the state contribute to the insertion of regions, locations and products in the field of global disputes in fresh food markets, fruits, in particular. Based on research carried out in the São Francisco Valley in Northeastern Brazil, and in Germany, this article analyzes disputes that lend visibility to actors and coordination dynamics involved in the definition and certification of quality, as well as the strained relations between consumers, producers and distributors in the governance of global markets.References
