Résumé

La notion de « multiactivité » renvoie à un phénomène que le sens commun reconnaît aisément: l’engagement par un ou plusieurs personnes dans plusieurs activités en même temps, appelé souvent aussi « multitasking » dans la littérature qui le traite essentiellement comme un processus individuel complexe consistant à traiter cognitivement différentes tâches simultanément. Dans une perspective ethnométhodologique et d’analyse conversationnelle, le phénomène se révèle être fondamentalement social et faire intervenir des pratiques détaillées et complexes de coordination entre des activités multiples. Cet article en offre une conceptualisation basée sur une analyse systématique des détails incarnés des participants à l’interaction sociale. Il montre l’importance de tenir compte de la temporalité détaillée et du formattage multimodal (langage, gestes, regards, corps) de l’action.

Lorenza Mondada é professora de Linguística Francesa e Linguística Geral da Universidade de Bâle et Finnish Distinguished Professor à l’Université de Helsinki. Suas pesquisas situam-se no campo da linguagem em diversos contextos interacionais, a partir da etnometodologia e da Analise Conversacional, assim como da Linguistica Interacional, com vistas a apreender a dimensão corporal da linguagem e da ação em diversas práticas sociais. Tem publicado no Journal of Pragmatics, Discourse Studies, Language in Society, ROLSIand co-edited various collective books (among others Knowledge in Interaction, with T. Stivers & J.
