Contributions of the university extension in land regularization

Abstract

Fieldwork is an essential educational resource for integrating knowledge acquired in the
classroom with social reality, from the perspective of praxis. The extension project on land
regularization at the Federal University of Pernambuco supports the formalization of Informal
Urban Centers in Pernambuco, promoting student participation through interdisciplinary
dynamics, innovation, and social technology. This study seeks to analyze the contributions of
the Project's activities to the academic training of students and to the training of municipal
managers to work on land regularization projects and the implementation of urban plans. The
methodology involves the dialectical method, together with a descriptive approach, through
prior social mobilization and cadastral survey with beneficiaries, allowing for a participatory
and contextualized approach. The contributions of field actions are observed in the
development of student skills, in engagement with social demands, and in the expansion of
professional perspectives. In addition, the experience provides greater integration between
university and society, promoting concrete solutions to social and urban challenges. In this
way, the project contributes to the critical and practical training of students, consolidating
fieldwork as a fundamental strategy in education and city planning.
