Abstract

In its second edition, the Symposium on Studies on Recife, held by the Laboratory for Studies and Teaching on Recife (RecLab), provided a broad space for reflection and exchange on social, cultural, landscape, historical, and territorial issues. Dynamics encompassing dialogues, reflections, debates, and research involving different historical subjects and, through coordinated actions, producing and modifying the city over time. This paper aims to report on the successful experience of the event, anchored by the theme "Urban Dynamics, Yesterday and Today," held at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco. Based on the information gathered, it demonstrates the potential for opening spaces for debate with the aim of fostering reflections proposed by researchers, educators, social movements, members of civil society, students, and institutional decision-makers, to overcome territorial inequalities and injustices, analyzing Recife past and present.
