The teaching of grammar in Brazil has significant importance in language teaching, whose focus remains in linguistic correction and classification; meaning very little to the needs that the language user has according to demands of society. This article aims at presenting a possible suggestion of grammar teaching through the enunciation perspective of Argumentative Semantics, bringing as example an activity that conceives the semantic use of the adjective ‘evil’ (má, in Portuguese), in the expression má o suficiente(evil enough) as an argumentative modifier. This paper is based on researchers such as Weedwood (2002), in order to understand the route of grammar studies; Flores e Teixeira, with the purpose of characterizing the enunciation study; and on Ducrot, to substantiate the use of the adjectiveas an argumentative modifier. Results allow for restating that it is only in discourse that meaning effectively takes form; the semantic description of the adjective, grounded on the enunciation perspective, refers not only to the role of this morphological group together with a noun, but also to discourse on its total meaning, showing great argumentative potential. We conclude that the adjective, when used by the utterer, updates a gradual scale, turning the utterance where it is located into a stronger argument in comparison to one where an adjective is not found.References
