This article presents the results from a study examining how academic articles published in the field of history are constituted and based on the discourse of the other. It is grounded in Bakhtin’s (2003) epistemological reflection, but it is also based on other authors whose fields range from the dialogic, the philosophy of science and the circulation of discourse approaches. The analysis demonstratestheheterovocality inherent to the genre; the bivocality that is specific to the academic discourse; the compositional heterogeneity; and, consequently, the stylistic heterogeneity –the different modes of saying and representing alterity “compose” a styleof the author.References
