Caïn ou le négatif producteur d’un siècle naissant. Conrad, Unamuno, Hesse
Abstract
Trata-se de mostrar, através de três reescrituras dos anos 1910-1920 (The Scret Sharer de J. Conrad, Abel Sanchez de M. de Unamuno e Demian de H. Hesse), como as ambigüidades do mito bíblico de Caim dão forma às interrogações de um período aspirante da regeneração frente ao desmoronamento dos valores do século XIX. No prelúdio da visão de desencantamento dos pensadores da modernidade, o capítulo IV de Gêneses alimenta a expressão de uma psicologia da cisão, tomada de consciência paradoxal equivalente ao desencadeamento do processo de individualização. Figura paradoxal do assassino criador, Caim, com efeito, opera nessas obras como um agente de renovação e abertura dos possíveis, oferecendo assim sua amplitude à personagem do Homem Novo que habita o imaginário da época.
