ChatGPT: ally or enemy for education?

Abstract

Faced with the most diverse debates regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence, comes the debate about the GPT Chat, especially when used during education. Whether students using the tool or teachers, every context has pros and cons. Methodologies involving teaching and learning have already been elaborated, debated and applied for decades, but with the advancement of technology as it happens in the 21st century, innovative forms of didactics need to be debated. For this reason, this article aims to evaluate possible positive and negative contributions regarding the use of GPT Chat in education. The research methodology was a bibliographic review using the Google Scholar platform as a base, where 5 articles were found, all from the year 2023, addressing the topic. Among the information extracted from the articles, several points were found regarding the use of the tool by teachers and students. It was concluded that the tool can be used in academia. Therefore, it is possible to highlight that the tool can be used in academia, if there is awareness and moderation, as it is still unknown what consequences may arise over time.
