PERFIL EPIDEMIOLÓGICO DE GESTANTES DIAGNOSTICADAS COM DIABETES GESTACIONAL EM UNIDADE BÁSICAS DE SAÚDE DE PETROLINA (PE)

Introduction: Gestational Diabetes is of global public health interest, as it presents itself as a predictor of complications during pregnancy and is associated with high mortality. Objective: To investigate the frequency distribution of patients diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes in Basic Health Units in Petrolina (PE). Materials and methods: This is an observational, cross-sectional study. The sample of this study consisted of pregnant females, over 18 years old, attending Basic Health Units in the city of Petrolina, Pernambuco, Brazil. Initially, the volunteers were submitted to a General Anamnesis questionnaire, which contained three subdivisions: registration form, anthropometric data (height, total body mass, body mass index). For the identification of risk factors, the diagnosis of Gestational Diabetes and family history of diabetes were evaluated. Results and discussion: The total sample consisted of 19 pregnant women, with a mean age of 30.47 ± 6.83 years, mean height of 1.59 ± 0.05 meters, and mean total body mass of 78.53 ± 17.56 kilograms. Regarding the BMI classification of all participants, they were: normal weight (21.1%; n - 4), overweight (21.1%; n - 4), grade I obesity (26.3%; n - 5), grade II obesity (15.8%; n - 3) and grade III obesity (15.8%; n - 3). Participants reported an average of 2.52 ± 1.26 people living in the same household. Conclusion: Pregnant patients presented a high frequency distribution of Gestational Diabetes diagnosis in Basic Health Units in Petrolina (PE).
