This article is a product of a set of reflections carried out during the Supervised Internship in Geography III of the Feira de Santana State University (UEFS), carried out in a 7th grade elementary school class in a municipal school. In the search to understand more clearly how the students understand the landscape, activities were carried out with photographs, considering them as a didactic resource, which provides alternative ways for the construction of geographic knowledge. The methodological choice delimited in this article is the case study, method of qualitative research. At the beginning of the Internship, there was a certain difficulty of the students in understanding the concept oflandscape geographical category, because in the diagnostic activities, they performed only a description of it by identifying the visible elements in the photograph and did not perceive themselves as social subjects that act in the landscapes and interfere in the organization of the space. The work developed during the experience of the Internship, helped the students to establish new relationships with the lived space, as well as making comparisons with other spaces, from the deepening of the reading of landscapes represented by photographs. Withthis, the students were understanding the importance of social relations expressed in the intervention of society on the environment, in the configuration of landscapes. We conclude that this work constituted a valuable research and intervention instrument, favoring the development of a teaching practice, focused on the improvement of methodologies that favor the apprehension of the geographic concepts, so that the learners can appropriate the concepts to reflect and intervene in the context in which they are inserted, questioning and problematizing reality.
