Abstract

Teaching about the city has been an important articulator of learning in geographic education, and, considering the importance and relevance of the theme, the present work is dedicated to analyzing the teaching of the city from the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) . From the different conceptions of the city that underlie the debate in different theoretical matrices, the route was carried out from the skills indicated to the teaching of Geography at BNCC trying to highlight those that are related to the teaching of the city for elementary school (initial years and years finals), locating them, by school year and by thematic unit. The result of the investigation is detailed in this article, which presents the singularities of city teaching in basic education and the radiography of skills that are related to city teaching. The teaching of the city assumes, at the beginning of schooling, a great approximation with the student's place of experience and, therefore, a greater association with the category place and landscape, and over the final years it will assume greater complexity in different geographical scales and in association with different themes and categories
