In the anthropocene, changes in environmental systems took on worrying proportions, with environmental education, formal or non-formal, an instrument that enables the construction of environmental knowledge, as advocated by Leff (2011). The objective of the article is to present results of didactic-pedagogical practices related to the environmental theme with the students of the initial grades in a multi-grade school, located in the rural area of the municipality of Boa Vista in Cariri Paraibano. The municipality is part of the Cariri Environmental Protection Area, created by State Decree Nº. 25. 083/2004 in order to protect the biodiversity of fauna and flora in the Caatinga, and the geomorphological heritage of the place. The research methodology was based on action research, with the realization of different didactic resources, such as drawings of environmental perception, mental maps of the place filmic reproductions. Such resources helped to reflect on the main elements of the environment in the lived place. The results show that students have a good perception of the Caatinga biome in the place where they live, they know the importance of living in a Conservation Unit, but they cannot represent it. Therefore, the didactic / pedagogical practices of environmental education in the context of the geography make it possible to develop collective reflections on the challenges of environmental preservation.References
