Impact of Hilma Af klint´s work with projective geometry aesthetic: homological perspective

This article presents a reflection on the applicability, as a didactic tool and pedagogical possibility, of projective transformations between 2nd species shapes applied to artworks of the Swedish artist, Hilma af Klint, chosen by the fact that she has been neglected in art history, especially in relation to her avant-garde abstractionist style, whose work stands out for the use of geometric figures with intense colors. Therefore, the research methodology consists in the application of the principles of the Desargues’ Theorem and homological properties and construction in two paintings:They tens mainstay IV (1907) and Group VIII, no. 1 (1913). Both pieceswere analyzed in the light of Projective Geometry using the graphic software Geogebra as a support. The artworks were selected based on a personal, procedural, and geometric analysis, due to their symmetries and difference in shapes, adding up to works filled with symbolism. The results illustrate that the attempts to find in the space of the artwork a projective geometric transformation consists in a very prolific task, since studying and finding projectivity in art is an educative way of understanding the contents of Projective Geometry and giving them meaning.References
