Abstract

This study investigates the educational process within the Brazilian prison system, emphasizing the need for an approach that fosters the restoration and social reintegration of individuals deprived of liberty. The research highlights the urgency of engaging the bodies responsible for developing a curriculum suitable for this population, taking into account the challenges and opportunities in this context. The analysis draws on authors such as Michel Foucault, Paulo Freire, Nilo Batista, and Vera Malaguti Batista, whose contributions are key to understanding the dynamics of power and social control. The study suggests that public policies aimed at prison education must address gender disparities, respect human rights, and ensure equitable opportunities, with the goal of reshaping perceptions and practices related to education within the prison context.
