Geographic Environment and Geoindicators
ABSTRACT
This work aims at the systematic dissemination of the methodology of environmental geoindicators rescuing his concept and a review of research at national and international scene. Multidisciplinary issues in environmental management, the present geoindicators quite useful, allowing a series of summary information related to one aspect, assisting in decision making, diagnosis and prognosis environment. The geoindicators can be understood as measures of magnitudes, frequencies, rates and trends of processes or geological phenomena that occur in periods of one hundred years or less, or near the surface and can vary significantly for the evaluation and understanding of rapid environmental changes. The rapid environmental changes, of lesser magnitude and more restricted spatial effects are sometimes difficult to understand and research due to the inability to perceive and distinguish between natural changes in decadal scale or secular, and the effects derived from human interference in the landscape (Coltrinari, 2001). It is understood that the form geoindicators can be applied to any environment, provided they have prior knowledge of the problems that occur, to be chosen after the most precise techniques for evaluating the environment to be searched.
