Perception and environmental valuation are instruments that can translate the aspects relating to the conservation of protected areas and, above all, respect for life. Thus, it is essential to understand the importance of these areas as spaces that show representative portions of natural ecosystems and that offer multiple benefits to society. This study aims to analyze the environmental perception, from a sample of the population of Campo Grande, in relation to Parque Estadual Matas do Segredo (PEMS) and present the environmental valuation through the average value of willingness to pay for the conservation of the Park. The methodological procedures that guided the development of this research involved in collecting data about quantitative and qualitative approach, with questionnaires to a random sample of 400 people. The DAPM resulted in R$ 12.97, willing to pay for the environmental conservation of the Park. All of the number of people interviewed, 56.5% says that they do not know the PEMS, however, 92.8% of the sample mentioned that this space should be protected. It is essential that the effectiveness of the actions taken in support of this conservation area is more comprehensive, in order to reach the entire community, considering the tangible and intangible values that this space offers.
