"É no terreiro que as bichas se encontram": Experiências afrorreligiosas e homoafetivas como identidades subalternas nos terreiros de umbanda Igarapé - AÇU/PA

Abstract

Afro-Brazilian terreiros, according to the specialized bibliography on the subject, constitute more open and receptive places for homosexualities and other sexual and gender diversities that escape society's compulsory heteronormativity. In this sense, this research aims to understand the place that homoaffections and gender identities occupy in Afro-religious Umbanda houses in the city of Igarapé-Açu, a municipality located in the Northeast of Pará. I use interviews with the Afro-religious leaders of the terreiros visited, as well as with the entities of the religious temples to understand the relationship that the terreiro community establishes with the sexual dissidents participating in the sacredness of the religion. I seek to answer how the Afro-religious and homo-affective experiences of these individuals in living with religion help in the construction of their identities as subaltern subjects, directly linked to the r(existence) of the homo-affective body in contact with the Afro-Brazilian religion. Keywords: Afroreligiosity; Experience; Homoaffectivity; Identity; Umbanda.
