Este artigo trata do espaço ocupado pelos "curandeiros" junto à população negra do Recife e a "ofensiva médica" em Pernambuco. Esta nova política desenvolveuse através das noções de polícia médica, medicina urbana e medicina da forca de trabalho.
This article deals with the role of "healers" among Recife's black population in the context of the "medical offensive" in Pernambuco. This new public health policy developed from the notions of a medical police, urban medicine and medicine related to the work force.
