O registro de pinturas rupestres no Brasil é antigo. Vem da época colonial e ·já nos "Diálogos das Grandezas do Brasil", escrito em 1598, aparece, seguramente, a primeira referência histórica desta arte tndígena. Posteriormente, alguns autores citaram a arte parietal brasileira, em lmaginosos trabalhos que identificavam as pinturas indígenas como escritas antigas e testemunho de passadas civilizações.
The record of cave paintings in Brazil is ancient. It comes from the colonial era and, already in the "Diálogos das Grandezas do Brasil", written in 1598, surely appears the first historical reference of this indigenous art. Subsequently, some authors cited Brazilian parietal art, in magnificent works that identified indigenous paintings as ancient writings and testimony of past civilizations.
