Abstract
No início dos anos 1960, o Estado brasileiro posicionou-se como instância de arbitragem e recurso em casos de conflitos trabalhistas no campo. Apesar do golpe de Estado de 1964, este período deixou uma marca indelével nas memórias, na medida em que instaurou finalmente "direitos" para os trabalhadores rurais. A ação inédita de suas organizações — Ligas Camponesas e Sindicatos de Trabalhadores Rurais — promoveu, na zona da cana, efeitos notáveis sobre suas condições de vida e de trabalho. O "Tempo de Arraes" se destacou no relato dos próprios canavieiros e de algumas testemunhas.Downloads
