GENETICISTAS DA GRAMÍNEA DOCE EM CAMPOS DECADENTES: Variedades de cana-de-açúcar, agrônomos e plantadores na abordagem da modernização agrícola (1930-1964)
Abstract
Este artigo descreve a história da mudança das variedades de cana-de-açúcar nos canaviais de Pernambuco, a emergência e profissionalização de um setor de cientistas e assessores agronômicos, assim como as reações dos plantadores pernambucanos a estes processos e atores durante a primeira metade do século XX. Como exemplo desses processos, o artigo descreve a experiência quase que desastrosa de uma variedade específica no final dos anos 50 e início dos anos 60.
