O DECLÍNIO DAS LIGAS CAMPONESAS E A ASCENSÃO DOS SINDICATOS: As organizações de trabalhadores rurais em Pernambuco na Segunda República, 1955-1963
Abstract
Enquanto as Ligas Camponesas eram as organizações dominantes nas fileiras dos trabalhadores rurais na zona açucareira de Pernambuco nos anos 1950, os sindicatos de trabalhadores rurais, em 1963, já suplantavam as Ligas em importância. Este artigo analisa como esta mudança na representação dos trabalhadores ocorreu. Defende que os conflitos que permitiram a criação de sindicatos aconteceram em contextos localizados e fragmentados. O Estado determinou os limites do conflito permissível, mas dentro destes limites, resultados locais dependiam da natureza e força das organizações de massa e dos grandes proprietários que se opunham a eles. E finalmente, o Estado era também capaz de assumir alguns dos custos dos proprietários, e deste modo, ratificar sua acomodação aos sindicatos.
