As várias fronteiras de um líder: Juarez Távora, o Norte e a construção do herói no imediato pós-1930. // The various frontiers of a leader: Juarez Távora, the North and the construction of the hero in the immediate post-1930.

Abstract

O artigo propõe investigar os vários significados da figura de Juarez Távora logo após a vitória do Movimento de 1930 e a formação da identidade regional-política do “Norte” e dos “revolucionários nortistas”. Inicialmente analiso estes dois conceitos, apresentando como os defino e a partir de quais critérios. Em seguida, tendo como base a correspondência enviada a Juarez, presente em seu arquivo pessoal, busco entender como os apoiadores do movimento de 30 – do Norte, mas não só dele – ajudaram a construir a figura de Juarez e todo o “heroísmo” em torno dela, procurando refletir sobre como sua liderança estava sendo estabelecida no novo contexto político, atentando aos seus vários significados e suas múltiplas fronteiras. 

The article aims to investigate the many meanings of Juarez Távora`s leading figure after the triumph of 1930s movement, as well as the formation of a political regional identity such “Norte” and “revolucionários nortistas”. Initially, I analyze these two concepts, showing how and from which I set criteria. Then, based on the correspondence sent to Juarez Távora (from his personnel file), seeking to understand how the supporters of the 1930s movement – from North, but not only – helped to build Juarez as a leading figure and all the “heroism” around it, I try to catch up how his leadership was being established in the new political context, paying attention to its multiple meanings and multiple borders.
