Abstract
Este artigo reproduz parcialmente as conclusões de urn amplo relatório de pesquisa financiado pelo CNPq sobre as origens da legislacao social na Primeira República, intitulado: Tentativa de controle e cooptação da classe operária no Brasil: um estudo da conjuntura do governo de Arthur Bernardes (1923-1926). 0 autor agradece ao inestimavel apoio logistico prestado pela pesquisadora Noemia Maria Zaidan, a quem é dedicado o presente trabalho.Downloads
