O então Instituto de Estudos Portugueses da Faculdade de Filosofia de Universidade do Recife, em 1965, iniciou, com uma série de palestras, as comemorações do V centenário do nascimento de Gil Vicente. Teve ótima repercussão. Sem querer introduzir, no entanto, na brilhante exposição daquele evento disciplinar. A nota dissonante da dúvida, permiti-me discordar, à época, de pontos para mim de capital interesse: a de que GIL VICENTE não nasceu em 1465, por exemplo, para ser prematuramente recordado.
The then Institute of Portuguese Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Recife, in 1965, began, with a series of lectures, the commemorations of the V centenary of the birth of Gil Vicente. It had great repercussion. Without wishing to introduce, however, into the brilliant exposition of that disciplinary event. The jarring note of doubt allowed me to disagree at the time with points of capital interest to me: that GIL VICENTE was not born in 1465, for example, to be prematurely remembered.
