PUNIDA E INSUBMISSA: ESCÂNDALO NO CONVENTO DA LAPA EM SALVADOR.
Abstract
O artigo apresenta rica documentação referente à reclusão punitiva imposta a uma senhora casada, de nível social elevado, em Salvador entre 1788 e 1807. Trata-se de um estudo de caso que evidencia o papel das instituições de reclusão feminina nas relações familiares. Nesse sentido, destaca o empenho de pessoas e de diversas instituições na preservação da honra da mulher casada. Por outro lado, aponta para o comportamento da mulher submetida à reclusão, que poderia ir da submissão ao pedido de divórcio, passando pelo comportamento transgressor. Tem por conclusão primeira a importância dos estudos sobre as instituições de reclusão feminina em análises sobre a família colonial. A segunda é a constatação de que as relações conjugais, no Antigo Regime, não pertenciam à esfera privada.Downloads
