A RELIGIOSIDADE NO PIAUÍ COLÔNIA: CATOLICISMO ADAPTADO AO MODO DE VIDA.
Abstract
Este estudo sobre a religiosidade no Piauí colonial aborda duas questões principais: as relações entre os moradores e as autoridades eclesiásticas, e o sentimento e a prática cotidiana da religiosidade dos habitantes da região. No que diz respeito a esta última questão, urna análise dos testamentos dos proprietários de terra revela que apesar da animosidade que existia entre os representantes da Igreja e os moradores das fazendas e sítios, a população tinha conhecimento dos princípios básicos da religião católica como a crença na vida eterna e a existência do inferno.Downloads
