ESTADO E NAÇÃO: NOTAS PARA UM DEBATE.
Abstract
Esta comunicação trata do processo de formação do Estado e da Nação no Brasil, buscando deslocar o foco da análise das consagradas visões que privilegiaram o Sete de Setembro e o chamado movimento da Independência. Trata da formação do Estado e da Nação dando ênfase às mudanças políticas que atingiram todo o espaço do Império português a partir do movimento constitucionalista iniciado no Porto, em 24 de agosto de 1820. Embora não minimize o significado da Independência, busca situa-la no conjunto das lutas que, tanto em Portugal, quanto no Brasil, teve por objeto a liquidação do Antigo Regime e, conseqüentemente, a liquidação do absolutismo monárquico. Por isso chama a atenção para a rica experiência política instaurada com a Junta de Governo, especialmente com a Junta presidida por Gervásio Pires Ferreira, em Pernambuco.Downloads
