REBELDES E REBELDIAS NA BAHIA DO SÉCULO XIX.
Abstract
Este artigo objetiva apresentar algumas considerações sobre a história política da Bahia nas duas primeiras décadas do Segundo Reinado, destacando problemas relativos à trajetória das lideranças rebeldes que, até o ano de 1838, haviam inquietado a província, liderando rebeliões federalistas e movimentos contra a presença dos portugueses. Após essa fase, continuou a existir uma situação de tensão que, apesar de não ter produzido rebeliões, constituiu-se em efetiva resistência política e cultural local ao projeto de centralização liderado pelo Rio de Janeiro. Pretende, assim, estabelecer algumas bases para a realização de uma pesquisa que consiga superar o consenso relativo dos estudiosos em torno da interpretação de que a Bahia pacificou-se após 1838, além de caracterizar a resistência oferecida pela Bahia ao projeto de nação que, no período estudado, visava submeter as idéias federalistas.Downloads
