A IRMANDADE DO SANTÍSSIMO SACRAMENTO DE SANTO ANTÔNIO DO RECIFE .
Abstract
Surgidas do sentimento religioso coletivo, as irmandades brasileiras em sua origem foram organismos sociais dinâmicos e canais privilegiados de expressão popular. O Estado absolutista português, como estado de equilíbrio das forças sociais, dimensionou com exatidão a força desses grêmios e tratou de incorporá-los à sua política ultramarina, onde passam a ter o papel de legitimadores de uma ideologia de dominação. A irmandade do Santíssimo Sacramento de Santo Antônio do Re-cife, enquanto representante ao nível da colônia do estamento social dominante, retrata bem o quadro da conjuntura colonial em que surge e das contradições inerentes a tal quadro.Downloads
