The landscape of museums of dutch immigrants from a system for the creation of signs

The museums of Dutch immigrants are places for sharing trajectories and memories through constructed landscapes. Symbolic structures stand out as an important field for study in New Cultural Geography because they are rich in symbols and meanings that connect with an imaginary materialized in these museological landscapes. Therefore, the study aims to analyze the cultural landscape present in museums of Dutch immigration as a system of meanings that allows for interpretation and reading as a text. The work's operationalization consisted of accessing documents from the Parque Histórico de Carambeí and Centro Cultural de Castrolanda museums. For the interpretations of the landscapes, the system of creation of signs discussed by Duncan (2004) and also proposed by Gomes (2013) about the point of view, composition and exposure contained in photographic records was used. The interpretations were guided by the respective representation symbols of the forming concepts of the Dutch immigrants' colonies, namely 'work', 'education', 'cooperativism', and 'religion'. Consequently, analyzing these symbols provides an opportunity to understand the meanings that permeate these landscapes and their constant reproduction, valuing, and exalting the culture and customs of the Dutch pioneers, turning this historical narrative into a potential form of tourist consumption.
