Abstract

Parte da Jiteratunl sobre o inicio do processo de transiçlo
democrática no Brasil nio poupou esforços no registro de amplas mo'bilizações
de massas. empenhadas no processo referido e sequiosas por participaçio e
mudan9a social. No entanto, à medida que os estudos se diversificam (e se
inteipenetram), as avaliações quanto ao potencial politico dos protagonistas na
cena democrática deixam de ser tio otimistas. Insinuam, por vezes, mesmo que
sutilmente, que projeto de democratização social e participaçio popular tomamse
quase que incompatíveis. Para salvar o primeiro, desconsidera-se (ou nio se
considera tanto) a segunda.
