Abstract

The aim of this paper is to discuss the theory and teaching practice in Geography in Basic Education as a segment of the Human Sciences. With research of a theoretical nature, it relies on resources from the scientific-pedagogical literature that deal with the teaching of geography. Empirical data from the teaching practice of geography and educational management in the area of Human Sciences are treated in a qualitative approach. The results, in the format of discussionsintegrated with the text, highlight the need to adopt the devices offered by the Historical-Critical Pedagogy as a complement to the performance of the Geography teacher in the school, especially in the case of working with Critical Geography. At the end,is brought a guiding framework of teaching practice in geography, summarizing the previous discussions.
