The use of the Solar System Scope as an unconventional didactic resource for teaching Geography

The research aims to present the pedagogical potential of using Solar System Scope as an unconventional teaching resource in geography education in basic education. Thus, this article discusses the use of the Solar System Scope application as an unconventional teaching resource in geography education, with reference to the National Common Core Curriculum (BNCC) and the document “Currículo Teresina” (Teresina Curriculum), from the municipal network of Teresina/PI, specifically for the 6th grade (Final Years). The research, which is theoretical in nature and qualitative in approach, is based on authors who address the role of digital technologies in education, such as Kenski (2012), Massa, Oliveira, Santos (2022); Oliveira and Kunz (2014), and others, characterizing the bibliographic research. The result is that when working on topics that require a high capacity for abstraction, Solar System Scope emerges as an accessible and effective tool that allows real-time simulation of celestial bodies and their movements, facilitating understanding by students. It is concluded that the use of interactive technological resources can make learning more meaningful, dynamic, and aligned with the skills required for the 21st century, reinforcing the importance of pedagogical innovation in the teaching of geography.
