Conjugated action of erosive agents accelerates changes in the landscape of the city of Chaves, north coast of the Marajó Island. Erosive processes are known as effective modifiers of the landscape along the time. However, the poor knowledge of their causes difficulties the adequate understanding of the intensities and periodicity of their performances, as well as of the resultant damages. The main goal here is to recognize and understand the erosive agents, aiming to discuss and suggest forms to improve better coexistence of human being with those inevitable nature processes. Thus, this paper presents an analysis on the several aspects that compose the Marajo Island physiography, with support of field observations and historical registrations, which aided in the identification of the main factors causing erosive process and in the quantification of its temporary evolution.
