This article aims to analyze the deposition of eaf litter and its relationship with some elements of the climate in the cultivation of mate herb (Ilex paraguariensis) in the rural area in the town of Imbituva / PR located in the southeastern region of the state of Paraná. It is noted that the variability in production of leaf litter in mate herb can influence the profitability of the farmer once the leaves, twigs compose the arboreal extract that is collected for marketing. For this survey, 10 plots of 1x1 m2 installed, which were collected monthly through the year 2013. Climatic data from the municipality were provided by IAPAR. At the end of the study the deposition of leaf litter in mate herb was 311.5 g/m², of this total 260.4 g/m² (83.7 %) were leaves, 14.6 g / m² (4.7%) branches and 36.5 g/m² (11.7%) miscellaneous. It was observed that among the climatic constraints, the temperature has more influence on deposition. The relative humidity and rainfall did not show significant correlation. The months of December and January showed greater production of leaf litter and the months of August and September reduced production. The months indicated for harvest are those of the late winter and early spring for preceding production peaks in late spring and summer.
