The spatial distribution of soil chemical, physical, and magnetic susceptibility attributes can reveal concentration levels and their relationships, indicating the best way to manage the soil and consequently improve area productivity. Therefore, the objective of this study was to map and assess the variation of chemical, physical, and magnetic susceptibility attributes in a seasonally flooded area used for grazing in the municipality of Monte Alegre, Piauí. A sampling grid was established with 10 x 10 m spacing, collecting 18 sample points at a depth of 0.0 – 0.20 m, totaling 18 georeferenced samples. The following parameters were determined: pH, soil organic matter (OM), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), potential acidity (H+Al), sum of bases (SB), cation exchange capacity (CTC), base saturation (V%), electrical conductivity (EC), magnetic susceptibility (MS), sand, silt, and clay. Data were evaluated using descriptive and geostatistical methods. Spatial variability was observed, allowing the creation of fertility maps. The maps indicated elevated values for P, Ca, Mg, SB, CTC, and V%, and low levels for OM and K. The MS map showed similarity with K, Ca, Mg, SB, and CTC maps. Soil fertility diagnosis indicated a deficiency in K. The high values of Ca and Mg may be related to sediment deposition during flooding periods. Kriging interpolation for map generation proved effective in determining the spatial distribution of soil nutrients in a natural pasture area.
Keywords: Seasonal floods, nutrient dynamics, spatial variation, soil chemical attributes, soil physical attributes.
