In this paper the distribution of bathroom accidents along three beaches of Vila Velha city and its relation to the morphology of the beach and amenities offered to users is presented. The survey was conducted from information extracted from free images provided by Google Earth, lifeguard database of accidents and field survey of beach geomorphology. The results suggest that facilities to bathers, such as proximity to bus stops and kiosks seem to be responsible for the largest concentration of bathers. Consequently, concentration of beach goers showed positive correlation with the number of accidents. Therefore, beach morphology seems to represent a subordinate role in the number of accidents of the studied beaches. Nevertheless the higher frequency of occurrence of beach cups and associated rip currents, in the more exposed southern half of the study area may be related to a greater number of drowning occurrences.
