This article analyzes the possibilities of pedagogical reading in Conceição Evaristo's Insubmissas Lágrimas de Mulheres (2016). From a reflexive approach, we seek to consider how pedagogical readings can contribute, not only as entertainment for the reader, but also to provide an opportunity to look at the Brazilian social fabric, based on representations of the stories of black women who enunciate and write their lives from other worlds. Methodologically, we use qualitative research. Theoretically, we used the concept of Pedagogical Reading (Moura,2020) and the sociology of reading (Segré,2010). The research shows that Conceição Evaristo's work has strong potential for the practice of pedagogical reading, because its content reflects important social issues that need to enter the classroom through other routes, in this case, literature.
