Abstract

Um sulco na terra ou vestígios num castelo fortificado são mais reais e portanto,
mais necessários, à compreensão dos povos da Idade Média, que o poema de um
trovador ou o ~onho de um cavaleiro? Para Georges Duby, a resposta é um
peremptório NAO. Encontra-se por trás dessa recusa em privilegiar as fontes
"materiais" e a estas subordinar as fontes "ideais", uma concepção de história que
se contrapõe à herança positivista e seus anseios de construção de uma história
objetiva.
