Corporations, education networks and open capital on the stockexchange: the private sector advance in education in recent years

Abstract

In the first two decades of the XXI century we saw a rapid advance of participation in the private initiative in education. In Higher Education this movement was already happening since the end of the past century and currently, the private sector gobbles, according to the 2020 census of INEP, 87,62% of the IES from all overthe country. With the objective of presenting data about this situation and show that this path consolidated in Higher Education, starts to be experienced in Basic Education, the article presented here makes a reflection on the recent changes in the Brazilian educational legislation: PNE, Reform of High School and BNCC, pointing out the statistical indicators that prove the beginning of a cycle in the appropriation made by the private sector, in this level of education. If the private IES benefited from the transfer of public resources destined to Higher Education, with the changes in the Legislation, the FUNDEB resources may also be appropriated by the sector’s impetus. For the development of this article, consultations were done in primary sources, such as the government’s statistics disclosed by the INEP censuses CADE notebook, interviews published in specialized informational organs and texts of thinkers who already do a reflection about this situation. This is a narrative-historical article with critical acceptations on the unfortunate setting that starts to appear in the quotidian of the ones that deal directly with the Brazilian education system.
