Abstract

Professor Luiz Antônio Cunha is one of the greatest Brazilian authorities in the study of the relationship between the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship and education. In his studies he seeks to understand not only the Brazilian State's investments in education, science and technology, but also the ways in which this investment became public policy. On the other hand, the researcher is also concerned about the relationships arising between social movements and civil society organizations with the policies of the authoritarian state, as well as the consequences of these policies in the field of education in the following decades. In the interview given to the organizers of this Dossier, Luiz Antônio Cunha talks about his career, the results of his research and the perspectives that we see today for confronting contemporary authoritarianism in education.
