This essay analyzes the soundscape in the novel O Pêndulo do Relógio,by Charles Kiefer. The objective is to evidence in which way the sounds in the narrative interfere in the development of the plot and the actions of the characters. The theoretical base comes from the Canadian composer Raymond Murray Schafer (2001) in histext The Tuning of the World, where the concept of soundscape is defined, and lately applied in the analyzis of the literary text, used by Werlang (2011) in his studies of the music in the works of Érico Veríssimo.References
