This work aims to discuss the relationship between Cultural Geography and the Feast of Santo Antônio de Barbalha, which aims to enhance local culture and its relevance to society from the teaching of Geography. It proposes to develop a critical view of the student about courtship and its impacts on the socioeconomic and political spheres, based on the construction of pedagogical practices that can be used by the teacher in the classroom. Thus, the methodology of this research was based, at first, on an office survey of the main works that discuss Cultural Geography, the Teaching of Geography and the pedagogical practices aimed at valuing education from the local space experienced by the student. Then, some proposals for teachingpractices were developed, which can enrich the student's learning process and their relationship with colleagues, teachers and the entire school community. The proposals raised can be used at different levels of Elementary and High School. As a result, the teaching practices presented are able to respond to sensitive points for Basic Education, such as interdisciplinary work, valuing the student's place of experience and valuing local culture by strengthening the cultural roots of Barbalha-CE. It is concluded that this discussion is not exhausted in this text, but needs to be continued from other researches that seek a similar focus, that is, to bring the learning of geography students closer to the aspects experienced in their daily lives.
