Revista Cartema maintains a continuous submission flow for:

  • Articles

  • Visual essays

  • Commented artistic exhibitions

with anonymous peer review, and specific calls for thematic dossiers.

Editorial criteria

The following criteria guide the evaluation process:

  • Alignment with the journal’s focus and scope

  • Compliance with technical standards (ABNT)

  • Grammatical and formal correctness

  • Relevance, content, textual coherence, and theoretical-methodological consistency

Review process steps

  1. Preliminary analysis by editors and editorial assistant

  2. Similarity check using Turnitin platform

  3. Initial editorial review of focus, scope, relevance, and contribution

Open Science practices

  • The journal will adopt open peer review, with prior agreement with reviewers

  • Authors may:

    • Choose from different open peer review models offered by the journal

    • Opt to interact directly with reviewers, when this option is available

Possible decisions by reviewers

  • Full acceptance, with no changes

  • Partial acceptance, requiring revisions

  • Rejection of the manuscript

If accepted, the review may be published with the article, if the reviewer agrees.

Timeline

  • The full editorial process is estimated to take up to 4 months

  • The process may be completed sooner with timely reviews and responses
